Oshun in Vodou?

I wonder about this....any feedback would be helpful!

When I first started my novel (about Pirates and Vodou in 1713), I based my first scribblings on past life memories. In one of these memories, I was in St. Domingue (old European name for Haiti), I was told about Oshun, and led to a fresh water source.....

Later, as I studied Vodou writings, it was said that Oshun was not a Vodou spirit.

NOW....just this year....I am finding references to Oshun CONNECTED with Haitian Vodou!

Here is one:

"Oshun in Vodou is known as Manbo Oshoun, not in every hounfor, but some still know!"

The whole article referenced above is about the existence of Orishas along with Loas in SOME Haitian practices.

Here's another:

"From Shamanic Roots, we find an early form of Vodou, known as Oshun, which eventually spread to West Africa prior to European slavery."

So, I am asking, does anyone know if there are connections with Oshun that might have been in play in 1713 Haiti?

BTW, here's a lovely description of an Altar for Oshun:
