Every spirit can have an earthly vessel. Generally, it is the spirits themselves that tell you what herbs, leaves, ingredients and/or elements it needs that makes the vessel appropriate for them. In terms of voodoo dolls etc. if you are talking about juju/mojo etc. the priest doing the work generally knows what he has to do to that object to make it good luck for you or bad luck for someone else. In Africa, often objects are made to be worn by infants and people for protection. Objects representing real persons are very individualized and go into the realm of bringing harm to someone. That is the work of a different type of priest. It is not sacred work. I am not familiar with it.
